Could be Product Choice
Choosing the right shampoo is essential to a well cleansed scalp + hair. Products too moisturizing or heavy might lead to a more oily scalp and feeling like you need to cleanse more often. Shampoos that are gentle clarifying or include ingredients like salicylic acid are great options for those who use a lot of product, go 3+ days between shampooing, or are more prone to an oily scalp.
Maybe Hard Water Build Up
Hard water can cause build up in the hair, especially calcium. This build up is usually accompanied by the feeling of hair that seems to have an oil coating, or seems impossible to get clean. A hard water treatment can fix this problem as well as a maintenance protocol for at home.
Cleansing & Rinsing Protocol
Double cleansing is a great habit to get into if you find yourself struggling with getting your hair clean. The same concept behind double cleansing for your face also applies to your hair! Think of the first shampoo as breaking up oil and product and the second shampoo can really cleanse the scalp. Following with conditioner (leaving it off the scalp) and ending with a very thorough rinse. Remember that you shouldn’t have any bubbles or slickness remaining in your hair after you rinse.

Absolutely not! Everyones hair, scalp, lifestyle is different and I promote doing what works best for you. With that said, could there be consequences to washing your hair everyday, yes there can! That doesn’t innately mean its bad and it doesn’t mean it would happen to you. Climates, seasons and water contents can also be factors that play into the frequency of washing. Bottom line is do what works for you and if there are concerns then they should be addressed as they come up.

Not necessarily. Hair grows from the scalp but can break off on the ends. With this is mind, the suggestion to trim for hair growth comes from preventing breakage. Split ends may start with just a small cm split but without proper care and maintenance, it can split to well beyond 2”. That is a significant difference in time it take to grow that length back out. Cutting the split ends allows for controlled length being taken off to allow for a positive growth number instead of going backwards.

It’s hard to say! As greying is progressive with a lots of factors at play, it is hard to determine exactly the cause. We grey due to age, genetics, stress and overall scalp health. In my opinion, if you pluck a grey hair, you are are causing some trauma to that follicle. Enough stress and trauma to a follicle will cause it to become dormant or un-pigmented (grey hair). In my professional opinion it is best to practice healthy scalp care practices and minimize stress as much as possible. These methods seems to work best to not accelerate the natural greying process.
